This study provided a valuable insight into why some people lose or gain weight more easily than others.
Genetics and Weight Loss
On the other hand, another study came to a completely different conclusion. A team of Stanford scientists examined the data retrieved from over 600 overweight people over a period of 12 months. The subjects went through insulin and genetic testing before being put on a low-carb or low-fat diet.
The scientists found that people whose diet revolved around healthy foods lost significantly more weight than those whose diets were unhealthy. These results were independent from genetic factors.
So, is there a link between genetics and weight loss? While our genetics certainly affect the way we gain and lose weight, it seems that a healthy diet based on green vegetables can neutralize any effects that genetics may have.
